There is a general misconception that yogis and mystics can tell your future. That is true but is that what astrology is. The yogi frowns! Then what is the relation between Yoga and Astrology? Is there any relation at all? How do astrologers predict the future? Is it the same way the yogi also predicts or is it different? Where does the two meet? We discuss below these subjects today in this article.
The yogi says that there is a science of time which is astrology. Some people have been knowing this science and have studied it. They also use intuition to predict the future of the people and in some instances it clicks and with others it does not. But if the Yogi is asked what will he do? The yogi says he will use the power of intuition to answer these questions. The yogi is in the present moment to answer all these questions. To him all the past and the future are also seen and poignant. So he can predict. The yogi says that these are all a part of the Sadhana but the yogi does not disclose this. The reason is that if he does he won’t be participating in any of the good or wellbeing of the individual or the society. That is why he cannot just exercise his powers unscrupulously.
But the astrologer can definitely do it. The astrologer through the knowledge of the subject and by dint of his intuition can predict the future of people and sometimes the country or a specific region.
The question arises is there really a need of the prediction or a need to know what’s going to happen tomorrow. There isn’t such need argues the Guru. The argument for this is if I get to know what’s going to happen tomorrow or what’s going to happen to me, I may turn more irresponsible. This is much like the story of Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty who becomes irresponsible after getting the powers of God. So the yogi argues that these powers can only be attained after one gains certain amount of Siddhi and it is important that one has to attain it. The reason is the purpose is not attaining the siddhas but the ultimate which is emancipation. The emancipated man or the enlightened one can easily predict the future although that is not his goal or intention.
